Avila Tei (Av. San Felipe, Chacao, Caracas) – located in the Chacao district – one of the most upscale in Caracas, this Japanese restaurant is reputed to be the best in the country. Everything expected in such an establishment is found here – from sashimi to sushi and tempura, hot jasmine tea, and and even green tea ice cream. Interestingly enough, the owners of this restaurant also opened a branch in Miami Beach (avilateimiami.com) – presumably in response to the demand from the sizable Venezuelan expat community that now lives in South Florida (USA).
