Casa Natal de Simón Bolívar

Casa Natal de Simón Bolívar (Av. Sur 1 e/Av. Universidad, Caracas) – this is the birthplace of revered Venezuelan leader Simón Bolívar (who liberated Venezuela and other South American countries from Spanish rule) – a destination for patriotic Venezuelans and South American historians.

There is also an adjacent museum that’s dedicated to him – “Museo Bolivariano” (displaying his personal effects and how he lived). The buildings themselves give visitors an idea of how Caracas used to look like, given that much of central Caracas consists of modern office towers. Free admission daily (closed on Mondays). Hours: 9 am – 12 Noon & 2:30 pm – 5:30 pm (Tuesday – Sunday).
