Estadio Universitario (Universidad Central de Venezuela, Autopista Valle-Coche, Caracas) – this 18,500 seat stadium, located towards the central part of Caracas (within the grounds of the Universidad Central de Venezuela), is home to the Leones del Caracas baseball team – which plays in the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League. Despite Venezuela’s location in South America (a bastion of football), the long-standing American influence in this country resulted in baseball generating a strong fan base here. This stadium is also used for other sporting events, including football (which also makes this the home of two local football teams: Caracas FC, and Deportivo Petare).
