Metrocable
Metrocable: those traveling through Caracas are likely to see gondola cars going from the nearby mountains into the city. These are “Metrocable” cars – transporting passengers from remote mountainous outskirts of the city to Metro (subway) stations in various parts of Caracas. The Metrocable links are shown in grey on the above-mentioned map of the city’s Metro system. This service was launched by the Venezuelan government in 2010 to improve transportation options for mountain residents. Each gondola carries up to eight passengers. These gondolas depart from their stations every 27 seconds, allowing the transport of 15,000 – 20,000 passengers per day.
